Guideline

Welcome in Nalanda Retreat Center

Nalanda Center is not a simple guesthouse. It is a place dedicated to spiritual practice leading to awakening, that is to say, the discovery of our true nature.

So, in order to promote effective practice and to help us turn attention within ourselves, silence is of primary importance. It helps us to see what we are used to projecting outwards and therefore enables us to understand how we create our suffering and the one of others by unknowingly building our own prison with our conditionings and fixed ideas.
Therefore, the Center has established guidelines and a program that we ask you to follow. It may not meet all your special needs so it will be necessary to adapt. - Learn to save your energy by limiting your words to Dharma related questions or practical problems. -

Group meditations are scheduled in the morning from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and in the evening from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Text recitations can be added. You are welcome: if the cross-legged position is unpleasant for you, do not hesitate to sit on chairs.

2 meals are served each day, morning and noon. According to Buddhist tradition, the right attitude consists of accepting what is given with a feeling of gratitude. -
The library is at your disposal. If you take books into your room, please write your names in a notebook provided in the shelf for this purpose. -

We encourage you to respect the precepts followed in most Buddhist centers : o Avoid harming or killing any living being. o Take care of what is made available to you. Do not take other’s belongings or was is not given to you. o Be respectful to others. Refrain from lying and engaging in idle chatter and judgment. No need to prove you are right. o Avoid alcohol and drugs which tend to distract the mind. o Devote your time to developing inner calm to allow wisdom to manifest.
